The Defiant Gameplay: Confirmed Campaign and Combat
The Defiant is built around a single-player story campaign with four distinct mission styles: frontline firefights, Shanghai stealth, and railway sabotage.

The core is a single-player story campaign, and each of the four chapters plays differently. The slice IGN went hands-on with leaned on firefights; the studio also showed or described a Shanghai intelligence mission and railway sabotage.
You can watch the IGN gameplay preview.
What players have already seen
- Northeast China: caves, trenches, forests, burning homesteads, and larger infantry firefights.
- Shanghai: working as an agent to gather intelligence, advancing through stealth and puzzles.
- Railway sabotage: using explosives to cut supply lines.
- Loadout: two guns and grenades at once, with period-accurate rifles, pistols and machine guns.
Where co-op stands right now
The Steam store page now flags online co-op and LAN co-op as supported features, so co-op is no longer just a plan mentioned in preview coverage. Player counts, maps and rules are still unpublished, and IGN described the game as single-player focused at the time. The details are collected on the co-op and multiplayer page.
Details still to confirm
Notes on movement, AI and the HUD belong to that preview build only. The co-op player cap, whether it uses separate maps, and whether crossplay works have not been stated. To check specific weapons, see weapons and characters.
